DIY Sublimation Air Fresheners
Looking for a fun and easy way to personalize your space? DIY sublimation air fresheners (also known as “freshies”) are the perfect project for any season! These colorful, great-smelling accessories make awesome car fresheners, gifts, or craft fair items — and yes, they even look amazing hanging on your Christmas tree when the holidays roll around.
Here’s how to make your own — it’s simple, vibrant, and smells incredible!
What You’ll Need
- Sublimation freshie blanks
- Sublimation transfers
- Heat tape
- Heat press
- Your favorite scent oil

Step 1: Tape Your Transfer
Start by securing your sublimation transfers to both sides of the blank using heat tape. Make sure they’re centered and taped down tightly — this keeps your design from shifting during pressing.
Pro tip: You can use different designs on each side for a fun, two-in-one look!
Step 2: Press Each Side
Place your freshie in the heat press at 350°F for 120 seconds using medium to firm pressure.
Flip your freshie and repeat the process on the other side. This gives you a double-sided design that looks great hanging from your rearview mirror, on a locker, in a closet, or anywhere that needs a little flair!
Step 3: Peel Transfers
Once the freshie is cool enough to touch, peel off the transfers to reveal your vibrant, colorful design!
Step 4: Add Scent & Display
After your designs are pressed and cooled, it’s time to make them smell as amazing as they look. Add a few drops of your favorite scent oil (floral, fruity, clean linen — whatever fits your vibe!) and let it soak in. Then hang your freshie wherever you want–in your house, in your car, or even on your Christmas tree!
The Perfect Year-Round Craft
In just a few easy steps, you’ve created a custom sublimation air freshener that’s colorful, personal, and great for any occasion.
Whether you’re decorating your car, making gifts for friends, selling at markets, or adding a touch of personality to your home — these DIY freshies are fun, affordable, and endlessly customizable.
