What makes Sublimation Transfers different than Heat Transfer Vinyl?
While both methods involve heat application, dye sublimation uses ink that actually turns into gas and bonds with the fibers of the garment, so you don't feel the transfer! That’s why white 100% polyester fabrics work best—they provide the brightest and richest colors for your project.
If you press sublimation onto a light-colored blended garment (like a 50/50 polyester-cotton blend), you’ll still get a good transfer, but the colors won’t be as vibrant. This can actually be a plus if you’re aiming for a vintage or faded look!
However, dye sublimation should never be pressed onto dark garments, as the colors won’t show up properly.
