I don’t know about you guys, but with the holiday season approaching, all of us at Heat Transfer Warehouse can’t stop thinking about stuffing our faces with a large and delicious Thanksgiving meal! Speaking about Thanksgiving, if you aren’t yet aware, we recently created new heat transfer kits, specifically two Thanksgiving-themed heat transfer kits. These kits provide you with multiple types of heat transfer materials to help you create the perfect masterpiece this holiday season.

In this blog, we’ll give you a step-by-step tutorial on how to use this kits to decorate dish towels with multiple heat transfer materials (mixed media designs). There are many ways to use the combinations of materials in these kits; however, this example will hopefully help you understand how to apply various types of heat transfer materials to one garment, while they all slightly vary in application settings.

Design: “First We Gobble Then We Wobble”

Kit used: Cornucopia of Fun Kit

Materials in Kit used:

  • CD260 - Fall Plaid (Holiday Digital Print - mask included)

  • WKQ3515 - WALAKut Quick Chocolate Brown 15"

  • UF527 - Chemica UpperFlock Olive Green 15"

Steps:

  1. Send your materials to your cutter and weed away any excess material.

  2. Set your heat press to 320 degrees F and ensure that there is medium, even pressure.

  3. Press your dish towel for a few seconds to eliminate any wrinkles and moisture.

  4. Begin by pressing the Fall Plaid Holiday Digital Print. This is normally pressed at 320 degrees F for 17-20 seconds. However, since we pressed over this design multiple times, start by pressing it for only 5 seconds. This is plenty of time to tack the design down. Peel the liner warm.

  5. Next, press the UpperFlock. This is normally pressed at 320 degrees F for 15-20 seconds. Make sure to cover your design with a Teflon sheet since your Fall Plaid Holiday Digital Print vinyl is exposed. You only need to press this for 5 seconds to tack it down for now. Peel the liner cold.

  6. Last, press the WALAKut Quick. We saved this for last since it has the shortest recommended pressing time. This is normally pressed at 330 degrees for 5 seconds. Pressing at 320 seems to work well, as long as you make sure you have medium pressure. Once again, cover your design with a Teflon sheet. Press this for the recommended 5 seconds. Peel the liner warm.

  7. You’re done! If you end up making your own creation with this Kit, we’d love to see your final product. Make sure to share it with us on our Facebook page!

Design: “Turkey Football And Pumpkin Pie”

Kit used: Fall Harvest Kit

Materials in Kit used:

  • UF501 - Chemica UpperFlock Black 15"

  • DFM-02 - Deco-Film Soft Metallics Gold 20"

  • 61715 - ThermoFlex Metallics Copper Gold 15"

  • 41615 - ThermoFlex Plus Chocolate Brown 15"

Steps:

  1. Send your materials to your cutter and weed away any excess material.

  2. Set your heat press to 320 degrees F and ensure that there is medium, even pressure.

  3. Press your dish towel for a few seconds to eliminate any wrinkles and moisture.

  4. Begin by pressing the two ThermoFlex colors with one press. ThermoFlex is normally pressed at 330 degrees F for 15 seconds. Pressing at 320 degrees F for 5 seconds is enough to tack down the designs for now. Peel the liners warm.

  5. Next, press the UpperFlock. This is normally pressed at 320 degrees F for 15-20 seconds. Make sure to cover your design with a Teflon sheet since your ThermoFlex material is exposed. Pressing at 320 degrees F for 5 seconds is enough to tack this down for now. Peel the liner cold.

  6. Last, press the Deco-Film Soft Metallics. We saved this for last since it has the shortest recommended pressing time. This is normally pressed at a temperature between 302-320 degrees for 7-8 seconds. Again, using a Teflon sheet to cover your design, press this at 320 degrees for the recommended 7-8 seconds. Peel the liner warm. For best results, finish by repressing for 3 seconds.

  7. You’re done! Again, if you end up making your own creation with this Kit, we’d love to see your final product. Make sure to share it with us on our Facebook page!
